Triplets! A Preemie Prints Photo Session

Please enjoy Preemie Prints' families’ inspirational story & photos.
Consider supporting our mission to share hope with families who have a baby born prematurely or critically ill. We thank our supporters, Preemie Prints volunteers, and donors for allowing us to continue touching the lives of NICU, preemie, and angel families.

We pray these special memories from Preemie Prints
will help families heal and remember how strong
they were in overcoming their NICU journey together.

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“After a few years of trying to get pregnant my husband and I ventured into the scary world of fertility treatments. We did 2 rounds of IUI followed by 3 rounds of IVF. On our 3rd IVF attempt we put in 2 embryos. We thought, "Maybe twins. We can handle twins". Our attempt was successful and at our first ultrasound to confirm our pregnancy we got the surprise of a lifetime- triplets! My husband literally did not speak for a week. We had a fairly uneventful pregnancy (in terms of triplet pregnancies) until week 24. The babies tried to make an escape and make their entrance. Two rounds of emergency steroids and a 4-day stay in the hospital and we were able to stop labor. I went on house arrest and stopped working at 26 weeks. We made it to 33 weeks before my body started shutting down. We were admitted to the hospital on Saturday night for hospital bed rest, but quickly it became obvious these babies were coming. Just 2 days later on Monday morning our 3 sweet babies were born. Our son was 4 pounds 12 ounces. We also have identical girls weighing 3 pounds 8 ounces and 4 pounds 3 ounces. I was discharged 5 days after their birth; that was the hardest day of my life. I remember crying, almost mourning, leaving the babies in the NICU to go home. The nurses assured me I could call any time, day or night, and they would update me. And they kept their word. I called every day and my husband and mom drove me back and forth almost every day. At 14 days our youngest girl came home. Surprisingly on day 15 the NICU called and told us to come pick up our son! Our littlest girl struggled to gain literally 1 ounce; she was 3 pounds 15 ounces and they could not discharge her because car seat limits are 4 pounds. Finally, exactly 3 weeks after being born our last baby came home. We watched other babies come and go, every day was a new adventure, we weren't even in charge of our own babies. We were very lucky to have mostly healthy babies who just needed time to grow and gain weight, but the NICU experience was still hard for us as new parents.”

This photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Jessica Morais.

A Note From Jessica:
“At 33 weeks Lena, Luca, and Mila made their way into this world. This was my first session with Preemie Prints and I was lucky enough to get triplets!!! Triple the laughs and giggles, triple the kisses and hugs. I honestly loved every minute that I spent with this caring and loving family. I feel so blessed to have been able to capture these moments for them. Thank you Preemie Prints for giving me the opportunity to meet this amazing family.”
