A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM KURT, MADS, AND WOLFE'S FAMILY
I went into labor unexpectedly at 29w4d. I had been admitted in the afternoon after an ultrasound showed baby b and c were measuring small. After NST and another ultrasound, plus a shot of steroids they put me to bed. An hour later my water broke and I was 4 cm dilated. Babies A, B, and C were born at 2:52, 2:56, and 2:59 at 3lbs1oz, 2lbs 4oz, and 1lb 13oz. We named them Mads, Wolfe, and Kurt. Our incredible sons. There were a few snags along the way, but we were blessed to have a long, but uneventful stay. We outgrew Bradys and desats, and residuals, our total fluids were satisfactory and feeds were tolerated, we gained and grew and maintained our temperature and breathed room air and terrorized our nurses with reflux, and would never have learned take a bottle if not for ot. Our tubes and monitors disappeared one by one and we marveled each time we saw our children's faces without tapes, cannulas, or ng tubes. Now we have three robust, happy, gorgeous baby boys at home and I am thankful every single day. I would never wish the nicu upon anyone, but if you need it your life will never be the same.

Mads, Kurt, and Wolfe's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Jennifer Sternal-Johnson.

A Note From Jen:
Triplets! I have to say, this was one of the most chaotic photo sessions I've done-- but so fun! Chrissy and Mike were so calm, it was amazing. Kurt, Wolfe, and Mads were born at 29 weeks and have had a tough run, with multiple surgeries and setbacks. Hoping things settle out now that they are 9 months old.

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“Brantley was only in the NICU for 4 days, but the nurses that interacted with him and us were amazing. They genuinely cared for each of these tiny babies. They explained everything to us and didn't mind all of the questions we had. I'm grateful that we didn't have to stay long and were able to bring our baby boy home sooner rather than later.”

Brantley’s photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Katie Schneider.
A Note From Katie:
"The 2 month portrait session for the Weiner family took place at a gorgeous local park with gardens in Cincinnati, OH. We got lucky with a break in between storms and were blessed with gorgeous background for their newborn and family portraits. The older kids were so in love with their baby brother and I really enjoyed taking photographs of them holding their baby brother. Brantley has the most beautiful big blue eyes and a sweet round face. The family was a pleasure to photograph and you can really see that they are so grateful for their little baby boy."

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“Hello our NICU journey included 3 different hospitals. The triplets were born in Sacramento and spent 5 day's in their NICU before bring transferred to San Joaquin general hospital in French camp. They stayed there for 1 week and were then transferred to St. Joseph's hospital in Stockton where they stayed until they were able to go home.”

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“I'm so thankful the way things have turned out so far. My rainbow princess is doing fantastic! However, it doesn't make things much easier. Even though we were told to expect a preemie since the beginning, we still weren't ready for it, then again who really is. I didn't fully realize how difficult & emotional this whole thing would be. I've held it all together for the most part but there have been a few times where panic & sadness has taken over & I couldn't hold the tears back. The nurses have been beyond amazing one of them even sat with me in the middle of night just to keep me company while I cried. Another nurse assured me the way I'm feeling is totally normal & every mom with their baby in the NICU is feeling the same way. The day I left the hospital (a week after due to me getting a unexplained fever) was by far the hardest thing ever! Barely able to hold back the tears as I left the hospital with my family but leaving behind our newest addition. Feeling so torn about wanting to spend every minute with her in the NICU but knowing how much my family needs me at home too. All while I'm trying to heal from the pain of having my tiny human cut out of me. I'm constantly trying to remind myself that this isn't forever but it doesn’t help this heartache I'm feeling. I'm so blessed & thankful for my husband who has been so strong & positive knowing deep down he's as scared & sad as me. He held things together at home all while being with baby Vida & me like a champ. I go see my baby at least 2-3 times a day, almost 2 weeks later & it doesn’t get easier when I leave her side. But I leave at ease knowing she has the most amazing Nurses everrr! & is in the best of hands."

About Judith:

"Hello all! My name is Judith. I'm momma to my not so little 8 month old boy, Damien. I love doing anything that gets me outdoors, I enjoy reading, and I willingly admit that I am a coffee addict. I started playing around with a little point and shoot camera around 8th grade and just fell in love with it. I got my first DSLR in high school and when I graduated I took college classes i photography and design. There's something therapeutic and yet so exhilarating for me about being behind the lens. I first hear about Preemie Prints when my nephew was in the NICU. Those hospital bills are expensive and I love that this organization is able to give parents something to remember this chapter of life that they may have otherwise not been able to have."
