Easton's NICU Grad Session

Please enjoy Preemie Prints' families’ inspirational story & photos.

Consider supporting our mission to share hope with families who have a baby born prematurely or critically ill. We thank our supporters, Preemie Prints volunteers, and donors for allowing us to continue touching the lives of NICU, preemie, and angel families.

We pray these special memories from Preemie Prints will help families heal and remember how strong they were in overcoming their NICU journey together.

Easton's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Jennifer Sternal-Johnson.

A Note From Jen:

Easton was born at 31 weeks, and came to visit my studio shortly after he left the NICU. He brought along his twin sisters, who were also preemies!

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM JULIA'S FAMILY
Julia was a twin pregnancy, with her sister Hazel Grace Redding. We found out Hazel had passed away at our 25wk checkup. I continued to carry both girls until I went into premature labor with Hazel. I delivered Hazel on Sept 9, 2016 & was able to keep Julia in one more week before delivering her on 9/17/16. Julia was a big little girl and was born at 4lbs 5oz. She continued to stay in the NICU for about 2months for having desats. She was finally able to come home in November. Despite some bumps in the road, Julia has thrived and grown.

Julia's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Jennifer Sternal-Johnson.

A Note From Jen:
Julia was born at 31 weeks, after losing her twin Hazel. She spent two months in the NICU and now is turning 1! We spent a very hot morning at Tinker Park and got some great shots of her and big brother Jason (also a preemie!)

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM CHAILO'S FAMILY
At exactly 31 weeks I began contracting 2 minutes apart. I went in to see my doctor at unity where I was told they won't take babies before 34 weeks so I was transferred to Strong. Once I got to Strong they monitored me as long as they could until a drastic change occurred and they rushed me in for a emergency c- section. As they did the emergency c-section I went into an acute kidney failure and all my other organs went with it. My daughter was born 2lbs 11oz and was placed in the Strong Nicu while I was in ICU. Long story short I got better after 15days in the hospital and got discharged. My daughter is still in the NICU doing well and getting the proper care that she needs. I'm able to go visit her whenever I want, I can call and check on her whenever I want and the staff were phenomenal given my situation. They worked with me, it was almost 2 weeks before I could see my baby.

Chailo's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Jennifer Sternal-Johnson.

A Note From Jen:
The whiteboard in Chailo's NICU room says, "be strong like mommy," and this little one is living up to that! I worked with her on her 1 month birthday, and we're hoping that she comes home soon!

A Note From Jen:
"Cameron and his family visited me at the studio recently. He is home from the NICU and just passed his due date, so it's like working with a newborn--sleepy and squishy (in all the best baby ways)!"

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
My twin girls were born prematurely after my water spontaneously broke at 31 weeks 3 days. My labor had otherwise been uneventful. The babies had the usual NICU course for babies born at their gestation: brief intubation for surfactant, respiratory support (CPAP and high flow oxygen), caffeine for apnea, and gradual feedings. We were fortunate not to have any significant complications. I truly believe that NICU parents are chosen by a higher power to parent the most fragile babies. While at first it may seem like a tragedy, I hope that every mom and dad can eventually realize the blessing of being chosen to be their baby's parent!"
