August 2013 NICU H.O.P.E. Meeting - BCS Chapter

We are thankful to Kozi Kitchen in Bryan Tx for sponsoring our August 9th NICU H.O.P.E. Meeting. This meeting is for current and past preemie, NICU, and angel parents. It is a place to connect, ask questions, visit, and offer support to current parents facing a difficult time in the NICU with their baby. Our August 9th meeting will take place at The College Station Med Center. Kids & babies are welcome to attend. We have a whole crew of little NICU grads who attend every meeting. We hope to see you there.

A little bit about Kozi Kitchen from their website...

Kozi Kitchen is my little place in Bryan, Texas. The food is prepared by me, Joanne Kozik. You won’t find anything frilly or fancy in Kozi's Kitchen because fussy kid's won’t eat it. Just old-fashioned favorites with a few special family recipes and ethnic favorites thrown in from time to time. Craving something? Let me know!

Who is Joanne? A single mom, with two grown kids in their 20’s, doing what I love - cooking! I’ve decided that it’s time for me to help you put wholesome, home-cooked meals on your family’s table. It’s dinner time!

A Church Service Project For Preemie Prints: Filled With Love

Each year young girls ages 8-11, at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, get together for their yearly service project. The service project is incorporated with other activities for the girls that all end up coming together to teach them about community, service, and love. We were so fortunate to be the community charity they selected this year to help! The girls learned a little about preemies, our organization, and how they would be helping many moms and babies. Then their service got underway. They started with cutting, then filling, and finished off with sewing. Each, with the help of a mom, sewed one NICU positioner and one mom warmer (a heating pad for a NICU mom). I was so blessed to be with them during the event! To see how proud they were to be helping was just so wonderful. To see them working together and having fun while giving back, at such a young age, was also amazing. Words can't express the gratitude we feel from our 75 little angels! The Preemie Prints Sew & Craft division thanks them so much for their service. Here are a few pictures from the event!

Partners: The College Station Med

Preemie Prints is a non-profit organization sharing hope through information and support from families who have babies born prematurely or with serious health issues and must be in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This is an informal, peer-based group connecting past and present NICU families in a hope filled positive atmosphere. Dinner is always provided by a local sponsor. Family members are also welcome. Current NICU families will receive a NICU gift bag containing information, restaurant gift cards, and other items for mom & baby!
