We pray these special memories from Preemie Prints

they were in overcoming their NICU journey together.

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM

“Ivy Rose was born at 36 weeks and one day. We prayed for her to cry when she was born as her brother whom we lost prior to her did not. She did indeed. This is our second NICU journey. It can be very scary and overwhelming. Hold on to your faith, and hope. Do not give up! You are your baby's voice. You can do this!”

A Note From Sarah:

“It was such a privilege to meet Ivy and her mom for this session! Ivy is such a beautiful and sweet baby girl. They're so far from home back in Ohio, having come to this hospital specifically for their level of specialty care. My heart really went out to them. Ivy will be in the care of the NICU for longer than most babies and it was amazing seeing the connections that are already forming between Ivy, her mom Ellen, and the NICU staff who will be a part of their lives for some time to come. I had the opportunity to watch the nursing and respiratory therapy staff teaching Ivy's mom how to provide the specialty care that she needs. Those moments sat with me for quite some time after I left the session. All mothers learn to care for their children, but with NICU moms are a special level of mommy warriors. Ivy and her family have a long road ahead of them, but I know with the love and warmth I felt from her mother and the staff caring for her, that Ivy is in receiving the best possible care and will thrive over the coming year!”

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“Elliott was born at 34 weeks + 1 day gestation on April 15, 2015. He weighed 5 lbs, 4.6 oz.

We got to meet our son, Elliott, after I had spent a little over a month in the hospital for monitoring of my preeclampsia. Because of the preeclampsia, I was induced at 34 weeks and after 48 hours of labor, we got to hear his cry and see his cute face. He had pneumothorax and initially had to be intubated but the tube was removed the next day and he was able to breathe on his own. He slowly began to regulate his own temperature, got his IV removed, finally got his jaundice levels down after several days of being under phototherapy, and then graduated beds towards an open crib. I know in the long run, the NICU will be such a short period of time when we look back on this, but having your little one here is such an emotional experience. We're grateful for all the help and care they provided to him.”

A Note From Karina:
"Elliot was such a joy to photograph. You can tell he has mommy wrapped around his finger! Can't blame her, I fell in love with those dimples :)"
