Please enjoy Preemie Prints' families’ inspirational story & photos. Consider supporting our mission to share hope with families who have a baby born prematurely or critically ill. We thank our supporters, Preemie Prints volunteers, and donors for allowing us to continue touching the lives of NICU, preemie, and angel families.

We pray these special memories from Preemie Prints will help families heal and remember how strong they were in overcoming their NICU journey together.

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM WILLIAM AND KADE'S FAMILY

Our identical twin boys were born at 34 Weeks. Baby A, Kade, was doing ok at birth and we got to see him right away. Baby B, Will, had more trouble with breathing and was taken immediately to the NICU. A few hours later We were able to hold them both. Luckily Will is a fighter and was only on Oxygen for 24 hours. Mostly both boys only needed help with eating and keeping their temps. As we learned and most NICU parents will tell you, it’s an hour by hour thing in he NICU with lots of ups and downs. We toured the NICU but nothing can prepare you for leaving your newborn babies at the hospital. Or for the struggles they would face simply to eat. A lot of tears were shed in the 2 Weeks they were there. We are fortunate to have worked with amazing doctors and nurses who made it a little more bearable. We are also fortunate that our NICU journey was over after 2 Weeks. It was the hardest 2 weeks of our lives and hopefully theirs too.

A Note From Brian:

Another twins shoot! It's always a lot of fun shooting twins (it never fails, one of them is always a lot more into the shoot than the other). Luckily, we were able to coordinate this shoot on a tight schedule, but we pulled it off with aplomb! Big sister Charlotte was a big helper and managed to keep us all in line. : )

After the first ten or fifteen minutes, both babies were awake and engaged. As usual, everyone did an outstanding job. Thanks to the family for their flexibility with the scheduling!

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM AUDRIANNA'S FAMILY
As a mother of two children who were born full term this is a life I never expected, you always see preemies and pray for them and their families and feel sympathy for them but until your in the situation you really have no clue what they go through on a daily basis! We all have heard of preeclampsia, again not really sure what it entails until it happens to you. As a nurse the day I’ll never forget started with some edema in my legs followed by high blood pressures and going from a local hospital to another over a week (including Christmas) and tons of medication I was finally allowed to go home due to my labs all being normal but I knew something wasn’t right I just didn’t feel well was discharged Friday 12/29 in the afternoon symptoms continued to increase over that night and the next day more edema nausea seeing spots and upper right quad pain finally Sunday morning 12/31 I could no longer stand the pain and I was no longer feeling my babygirl move so I went back to my local hospital who sent me back to strong by ambulance where when I arrived I learned I had the HELP syndrome and my labs finally showed preeclampsia and no longer had the option to stay pregnant a nervous wreck for my baby girl because I was only 27 weeks and 5 days pregnant and I was not prepared at all for anything nor did I have time to
prepare myself but I put all my faith in God and prayed my hardest after an emergency c section our little one pound fifteen ounce princess warrior was born who we nicknamed Wonder Woman she was born breathing on her own then required some help and was put on c pap then early her second day of life required more help and had to be intubated and have a breathing tube help her to breathe which my phone in my hospital room rang at 4am
and my heart dropped they informed me of the situation and that she was a difficult intubation so I quickly went to see her no words can express the hurt you feel seeing your child like that and feeling like you have failed because your body was the reason she had to be born as the days pass we have ups and downs from blood transfusions to extubation and re intubation due to her not being successful the first time to re extubating days later and it being a success and back on c pap every preemie story is different each baby fights for their life daily in different ways every day brings new challenges and you never know what to expect but I am certain that God gives his preemies to all his perfectly selected parents and I’m beyond blessed to be one and have our little Wonder Woman ❤ Still in the NICU and counting the passing days praying it won’t be long until we are all home as a big happy family ❤

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM DERRICK'S FAMILY
In April, 2017, I was shocked to find out that I was in labor at 26 weeks pregnant. To our surprise, our 2 pound 9 oz little boy, Derrick was born. He was delivered at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. They have a terrific maternity department, but not quite right for our little miracle. Three hours after he was born, he was transported to the NICU at Strong Hospital in Rochester, NY. He spent the next 97 days there. He had a breathingtube for a few weeks, needed blood transfusions, had 2 hernias and 5 hemangiomas. Everyday brought a new concern. We never thought the day would come that he would be able to come home. We visited every day, receiving updates, holding Derrick and encouraging him to grow stronger each day. In late July, Derrick came home with us. It wasn't easy, he had a feeding tube and was on 9 different medications, but we were able to spend every moment of the day with our little guy. He is currently 5 months old and over 13 pounds. Derrick is our miracle!

A Note From Jen:
Derrick was a 26 week preemie--now he's 10 months old and doing great!

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM ARTHUR, BAILEY, AND CLAYTON'S FAMILY
We were surprised by an early arrival of our triplet boys. Luckily they were born healthy at 32 weeks and the NICU team was wonderful at calming us down and easing our fears of having three premature babies. My best advice for moms and dads who are going through the NICU journey is to definitely ask your doctors and nurses questions and the clarification of anything that you don't understand. They're more than willing to help you and sometimes the acronyms get a little confusing and overwhelming but, they're your babies. Ask if you don't understand what's going on. At the end of the day, everyone wants what's best for your babies.

A Note From Jen:
When these little guys visited my studio, I expected absolute chaos--instead, we got 3 babies who slept through most of the session! So lucky!
