A Church Service Project For Preemie Prints: Filled With Love

Each year young girls ages 8-11, at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, get together for their yearly service project. The service project is incorporated with other activities for the girls that all end up coming together to teach them about community, service, and love. We were so fortunate to be the community charity they selected this year to help! The girls learned a little about preemies, our organization, and how they would be helping many moms and babies. Then their service got underway. They started with cutting, then filling, and finished off with sewing. Each, with the help of a mom, sewed one NICU positioner and one mom warmer (a heating pad for a NICU mom). I was so blessed to be with them during the event! To see how proud they were to be helping was just so wonderful. To see them working together and having fun while giving back, at such a young age, was also amazing. Words can't express the gratitude we feel from our 75 little angels! The Preemie Prints Sew & Craft division thanks them so much for their service. Here are a few pictures from the event!

Preemie Prints NICU Graduate Photo Shoot: Baby Spencer

Our organization with our volunteers, is so blessed to be able the gift of complimentary photography to so many deserving families who've had babies born prematurely or critically ill. Please enjoy these inspirational photos of this precious NICU graduate in Texas!

A little note from Mom:
Spencer was born at 33wks! We live in Austin, but were in our hometown of College Station visiting family for Thanksgiving. My water broke in the middle of the night at 3am Thanksgiving morning. Spencer was born at 3:03am the next day. He's spent the following 2.5 wks in the NICU at The Med, and progressed everyday.

Volunteer Photographer: Kassi Cooper, College Station TX

A note from our volunteer:
"Photographing Spencer was such a joy! He did such a great job and pretty much went along with everything we were doing. I just loved seeing how much his family beamed with pride as they looked at their little miracle!"

Preemie Prints NICU Graduate Photo Shoot: Jack & Ellie

Our organization with our volunteers, is so blessed to be able the gift of complimentary photography to so many deserving families who've had babies born prematurely or critically ill. Please enjoy these inspirational photos of two adorable NICU graduates!

A little about the twins from their mom:
Jack was in the NICU for 96 days. He was diagnosed with IUGR at 25 weeks, and I was put on bedrest to help improve his bloodflow. He was 2lbs 5oz at birth. When born his apgar score was 1, he was given CPR and put on an oscilating ventilator for 10 days. He was on oxygen until he was about 6 months old. He had several UTI's while in the hospital. He had a PDA and a PFO. His PDA required medicine to close his this hole in his heart. His left kidney was dilated. He spent 96 days in the NICU.

Ellie was born at 2lbs 13oz and was put on an oscilating vent for 3 days. After getting off the vent, she had a relatively smooth 54 days in the NICU. Only a few bumps in the road in the way of infections.

Volunteer Photographer: Dani Wendal - Houston, TX

A note from our volunteer:
"This family was so sweet, and working with them made for one of my favorite shoots. When working with children, especially two or more babies, your time frame for a happy baby can be pretty small. Jack and Ellie blew that stereotype away! They allowed me to shoot through several outfits, and even more themes and ideas. The way Jack would light up with Daddy made me smile. Mom and Dad made this a really enjoyable experience, they not only wanted the smiling shots, but those that showed all the facets of Jack and Ellie with their different faces and behaviors. I really can't say enough about what a joy this family was. I'm really happy I was able to be a part of giving them this gift."

Preemie Prints NICU Graduate Photo Shoot: Avery & Brantley

Our organization with our volunteers, is so blessed to be able to give this amazing gift to so many families. Please enjoy these inspirational photos of two adorable NICU graduates!

A note from the twins mom:
Avery and Brantley were born on 9/6/2011 at 26 weeks gestation. Brantley spent 80 days in the nicu. Avery spent over 100 days in the nicu and had to have surgery for his reflux. They are both finally home after very long nicu stay!

Volunteer Photographer: Jessica Pendley - Flowery Branch, GA

A note from our volunteer:
"The things that this family has went through really surprised me, and I realized what a miracle it was that her and the babies are alive and well. They didn't cry one time while I was there! Little Avery is still on a feeding tube and I thought it was so amazing that while they fed him through it, he would suck on his hand as if he was eating through his mouth! I can't wait to help the next family!

This special preemie family was on their local news. If you would like to learn more about their amazing story watch the segment here.

AniYiah's Lemonade Stand

Congratulations to AniYiah Miller on her 1st Lemonade Stand. Along with her family and SOL friends she raised $289.84 for her chosen charity, Preemie Prints! Thanks to the sponsors: Wal-Mart, Chick-Fil-A, Party City, Mardels, Hobby Lobby, and most importantly Pastor, Dr. Kenneth Skelton & Cookie Skelton and the SOL family. Also special thank you to Rebecca Nicholson (Red's Great Grandmother).

AniYiah was born April 24, 2008, to Mr. and Mrs. LeMardre Miller. AniYiah weighed only 3lbs 6oz. Today she is a healthy and lovable "miracle" baby girl. She loves to dance, cook, sing, and play with her friends. AniYiah attends Pre K and serves as a greeter for her classroom.

Her favorite subjects in school are math, spanish, and recess.

A JOB WELL DONE ANIYIAH MILLER!

~Submitted by AniYiah's Mom

AniYiah Miller congratulated by her grandparents
(Nana Pumpkin and Pa Pa Miller)

AniYiah and Jaylen perform a quality taste test on the product. Mmm Good!

AniYiah receives a hug form her SOL supporter & friend.

This fundraiser warms my heart in more ways than one! Who would have thought that a little girl, born too early, would be giving back to a preemie charity a few short years later. I'll never forget the first phone call I received from AniYiah's mom when they were planning the lemonade stand. She talked about wanting to teach her daughter about community, prematurity, charity, hard work, and giving back. This mother was so inspiring to me, someone who reminded me about things I will teach my daughters one day soon. She inspired me with her idea about the lemonade stand! What a creative, simple, and fun way to fundraise. A wonderful introduction to charity for a little girl just beginning to learn what that means! We thank you so much AniYiah!!!! From the bottom of our hearts. :)
