NICU Grad Session: Kinsley

Please enjoy Preemie Prints' families’ inspirational story & photos.
Consider supporting our mission to share hope with families who have a baby born prematurely or critically ill. We thank our supporters, Preemie Prints volunteers, and donors for allowing us to continue touching the lives of NICU, preemie, and angel families.
We pray these special memories from Preemie Prints
will help families heal and remember how strong
they were in overcoming their NICU journey together.

NICU Story: Kinsley's Family
"Kinsley was born at 27 weeks and 2 days. I was told early that day I would have to have a c section in order to keep her and me alive. I had a placenta tumor which cause many complications in my pregnancy. Her heart wasn't functioning right and fluid spread all throughout her liver, heart and all through her body. Her belly was the size of a 30 week baby when i delivered and she weighed 3 pounds and 6.3 ounces, which was mostly fluid and swelling. I was told if i didn't breastfeed that her chances of survival were very low. I was blessed with a great supply of milk and at just 10 days old she has lost a lot of that extra fluid and weighs 2 pounds 10.2 ounces and is 15 inches long. She went from 100% oxygen to 25%. She was born with severe jaundice and she is already off all the lights. She is still having a hard time with bowel movements and digesting food but we are slowly getting there. She went from an oscillator to a ventilator. I am so proud of her progress. When I first had her I was scared for her life. They told me she was severely sick and it would take very slow progress. She is proving them wrong and fighting hard for her life."

Kinsley's photo session was taken and donated by Preemie Prints volunteer photographer, Judy Cocchiarella.

A Note From Judy:
It was such a blessing to photograph this precious young family.  Kinsley is a little miracle from God. Delivered at 27 weeks she came in at 3 pounds and 6.3 ounces. In reality, a good portion of that weight was due to extra fluid around her liver, heart, and throughout the rest of her little body. Her health concerns were multiple.  She was not able to breath on her own, she underwent several blood transfusions and her parents were told to expect that she would have multiple heart defects. Understandably, Emily, Kinsley's mother, wanted to wait until Kinsley was home from the hospital to do a photo shoot.  Today she is four months old; she has no heart defects, and she has proved to be a little fighter. I felt that I was witnessing the aftereffects of a miracle. There is so much love  and strength in this family.  Their journey has not been easy, but they are optimistic that her good health will only continue. Take note that Emily's health was also compromised throughout this pregnancy and delivery, so they have a double blessing that mommy and baby are now a picture of good health.  All you  have to do is look at these pictures!  Thank God for miracles.
