A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“My baby's name is Nathaniel he was born 12/29/15 at 32wks 6days weighing 4lbs 3.7oz

This is my second preemie. My first came at 34wks. So far my little Nate doesn't have any major issues and seems to be adapting well. Hopefully his stay in the NICU won't be a long one. The nurses have all been very nice and are taking good care of him. The hardest part is not having him 24/7. I want to be woke up all night because he needs stuff and I don't have that but as long as he needs the help I would rather him be there.”

A Note From Angela:

“I have known Jessica since she was 7 years old. I watched her grow into a teenager when I lost contact with her mom. It's crazy to see how much she has grown and I am amazed to see her as a mother now. Jessica and Tim are amazing parents. It is pretty evident that they love this little guy unconditionally. Nate has done so well since he was born, gaining weight like a champ and coming off the oxygen so quickly. The session went really well and Nate was very cooperative. I am very happy with how this session turned out.”

A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“Our sons name is Lorenzo Decklyn. He was born 6 weeks premature on July 4th 2015 at 11:10pm. He was 5 lbs. 8.2 oz. and 18 inches long. His birth story was an unexpected one. I was eventually diagnosed with atypical HELLP and atypical Preeclampsia. After 4 days in the hospital with no answers and much stress, it became too much for him and he was delivered via emergency c-section.

After 3 days in the hospital we were going to be discharged the following day when the nursery staff noticed a feeding issue, he appeared to not ever be hungry. Turns out Lorenzo had a spasming pylorus. This is the sphincter muscle that lets food out of your stomach and into your lower intestines. His food sat in his stomach for hours so he appeared full. He ended up needing a feeding tube for 25 days to let this muscle mature. In the meantime, he was supplemented with IVs. However, he kept blowing his IVs and this resulted in an unexpected problem. Without IVs for nourishment, he'd get weaker. He once had 3IVs in one day. We were extremely worried about this getting worse and both issues could result in surgery. We were lucky enough that my breastmilk via feeding tube got him healthy enough just in the nick of time to not need IVs any longer. Yay! Then we had to wait for his pylorus to heal. Finally, Lorenzo came home after 27 days in the NICU, the day before his mommy's birthday!”

A Note From Jen:

“Lorenzo, despite being born early and spending time in the NICU with feeding issues, has some of the best chubby cheeks I've had the pleasure of working with! This little guy spent time in the NICU, struggling to eat, and finally came home with his family after 27 days.  He was so sweet and his family was lovely to photograph.  Best wishes to this little fighter!”
