A NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM

“My little miracle Jenna was born at 32 weeks weighing 4 pounds and 18 inches long. She spent 2.5 weeks in the NICU and is finally home now!

My husband and I have a 3 year old and now a 3 week old at home! We struggled for years getting pregnant with our little girl. After struggling through fertility treatments we finally got pregnant. Unfortunately I had placenta previa and started hemorrhaging at 28 weeks then again at 31 weeks. I was taken for an emergent C-section at 32 weeks. It was the scariest thing I have ever been through. Jenna was born at 32 weeks and one day. We spent 2.5 weeks in the NICU. It was a stressful, scary, amazing journey. I learned that it was very important to take all the help and support you can get!”

"I was so excited to spend the morning with Jenna and her family. She clearly adores her mama, daddy, and big brother! The more funny noises her brother made, the more she smiled. And those eyes....they are gorgeous and speak volumes. Her journey is so very similar to my son's, it was only fitting that she be the subject of my very first Preemie Prints shoot."

Preemie Prints is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization sharing hope with NICU families through a variety of support programs. One of those programs is the gift of NICU photography and preemie photography. NICU families from across the US can request a no-charge photography session by a Preemie Prints volunteer. The family request from can be found on the right side of our website. These sessions are free of charge and for any NICU family, regardless of time spent in the NICU. The NICU photo shoot can take place inside the NICU or after baby is discharged and at home until their 1st birthday. Facing time in a NICU with a premature or critically ill baby is an extremely difficult time for families. Preemie Prints has a mission to share hope by letting families know they are not alone. Preemie Prints currently has over 100 volunteers nationwide. We are always looking for more volunteers to share in our mission!
