Consider supporting our mission to share hope with families
who have a baby born prematurely or critically ill. We thank our
supporters, Preemie Prints volunteers, and donors for allowing us to continue
touching the lives of NICU, preemie, and angel families.
We pray these special memories from Preemie Prints
will help families heal and remember how strong
they were in overcoming their NICU journey together.
A
NICU STORY | THOUGHTS FROM MOM
“My daughter Skylar Denise was born at 30 weeks on September 23rd
at 10:40 am via emergency C-section due to preeclampsia. She was 2 lbs. and 14
1/2oz and 15 3/4 inches long. Skylar was not supposed to be born that day, we
were rushed to surgery after my blood pressure spiked again and her heart rate
dropped to the 30's. My body was trying to go into a seizer, so I had my face
covered during the surgery, during the C-section the epidural wore off as soon
as Skylar was pulled out, so they had to put me under, it was terrifying! The
last thing I remember was hearing Skylar cry and Kenny, my fiancé, tell me he
was going to see her.
Since my darling baby has been born there’s been much to learn,
and at 18, my fiancé and I had more than some. It’s been a long time coming,
and it’s nowhere near the end. But seeing Skylar everyday, most of the time
being stronger than me, gives me the courage to go forward and hope. Since Skylar’s
been in the NICU she has had a mild case of jaundice but over came it, she’s
gained two oz. almost everyday! How she’s so strong is beyond me. The first
time I saw her I had to hold in my cries, mainly because the C-section was
painful. But now the only cries I have are for joy, she’s being strong, and
gets to start bottle-feeding tomorrow. No matter how scary things seem, it pays
off to have hope. The nurses in the NICU are the nicest ladies I’ve met! They
make all this just a little more easier (:”
A Note From MInvi:
“This sweet family was
referred to us by Kim Johnson, another PP client. It was wonderful meeting baby
Skylar and her parents, Anessa and Kenny last Wednesday. They are first time
parents and you can tell how much they adore this beautiful child. Hoping she
gain more weight in the next coming weeks so that she can be released from the
hospital soon."

Preemie Prints is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization sharing hope with NICU families through a variety of support
programs. One of those programs is the gift of NICU photography and preemie
photography. NICU families from across the US can request a no-charge
photography session by a Preemie Prints volunteer. The family request from can
be found on the right side of our website. These sessions are free of charge
and for any NICU family, regardless of time spent in the NICU. The NICU photo
shoot can take place inside the NICU or after baby is discharged and at home
until their 1st birthday. Facing time in a NICU with a premature or critically
ill baby is an extremely difficult time for families. Preemie Prints has a
mission to share hope by letting families know they are not alone. Preemie
Prints currently has over 100 volunteers nationwide. We are always looking for
more volunteers to share in our mission! If you are interested, please
email sherri@preemieprints.org and visit our website at www.preemieprints.org.
To date Preemie Prints and our volunteers have gifted over 400 NICU family
sessions.
This was a Preemie Prints NICU graduate
photography session that took place near Dallas, TX.
We're thankful to the family for sharing their
story & memories in support of other NICU families.
